Genesis 1.2


Hebrew: the earth being unformed and void, with darkness over the surface of the deep and a wind from God sweeping over the water--

Greek: Now, the earth was invisible and unshaped, and darkness was upon the depths, and the spirit of God lay upon the water.

Old Latin: The earth was invisible and formless, and darkness was over the abyss. And the Spirit of God was stirring above the water.

Vulgate: And the earth was without form and void: and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.

Peshitta: The earth was formless and void and darkness was over the face of the deep. The spirit of God hovered over the face of the waters.
