Help on Overlay Attributes . . .
To change an attribute of an overlay, it must be the active
overlay. The active overlay can be changed by clicking on the desired
overlay name from the overlay list. The attributes of the active overlay
appear in the option menus (visibility, color and drawing mode). Its name
is in the label at the top of the window. To change one of the attributes,
press the left mouse button over the current selection and a menu will
appear. Drag the mouse over the desired selection and release.
Overlay Menus
- Visibility Menu:
- On: The figures of this overlay are visible
if the Overlay mode is Edit or Browse. All overlays are invisible if the
Overlay mode is Off.
- Off: The figures of this overlay are not
visible.
- Color Menu:
- The options are the same as those under the Color menu on the main
menubar. Changing the color on the overlay affects all figures on the
overlay. It may not always be possible to allocate these colors, in which
case black or white are the most likely colors find available. In the
extreme case that none of the colors can be allocated, inverse is the only
choice because it uses colors already in the colormap.
- Black
- White
- Red
- Yellow
- Green
- Blue
- Inverse: Due to the way X implements
colors, inverse is not truly an inverse color but it is usually different
from the background colors. Inverse does not always function correctly if
the X server and client are running different versions of Motif. In these
cases, it usually appears black.
- Drawing Mode Menu:
- The options are the same as those under the Drawing Mode menu on the
main menubar. Unlike the previous two attributes, the drawing mode does
not affect the entire overlay, just the figure about to be drawn. It is
also not saved with the overlay, so changing the active overlay will not
change the drawing mode. The drawing mode need not be reselected for every
figure drawn but will stay in effect until it is changed.
- Rectangle: This sets the figure that
will be drawn on the active overlay to a rectangle.
- Circle: This sets the figure that
will be drawn on the active overlay to a circle.
- Point: This sets the figure that will be
drawn on the active overlay to a point.
- Overlay List
- The overlay list is a list of all the overlay names. The active overlay
name will be highlighted. To change the active overlay, click the mouse button over the overlay you wish to make active. That overlay's information (name, color and visibility) will
appear above the list. Below the list are three buttons:
- Create: You will be prompted for a name
for the new overlay which must not be the same as any existing overlay.
If press OK with no name in the entry, inote will supply a default name.
- Rename: You will be prompted for a new
name which must not be the same as any existing overlay's name.
- Delete: You will be asked to confirm
that you wish to delete the overlay. If you answer in the affirmative, the
overlay will be deleted. There is no undo.
