Directions to Charlottesville
These directions will take you to the main UVa parking garage. If you go to the
fourth floor of the garage, you will see a computer kiosk that includes directions, campus
maps, and other information

From Maryland, New York, and Points North
- Take I-95 South to Washington.
- Take the Capital Beltway West (following signs toward Silver Spring).
- Stay on the Beltway for twenty to thirty minutes. You will cross the Potomac into
Virginia.
- Take Route 66 West.
- Stay on Route 66 for about a half hour.
- At Gainesville, follow the signs for Route 29 South. There are periodic signs for 29
before you reach Gainesville. Ignore those signs. Make certain to exit at Gainesville,
about five miles past Manassas.
- Route 29 goes straight to Charlottesville, a trip of about eighty minutes.
- Downtown Charlottesville is preceded by about ten miles of stores and strip malls.
Keep an eye peeled for University Hall, a large domed stadium that will appear on your
right. After passing University Hall, go under a train overpass. The next intersection is
University Avenue. UVa is immediately ahead and to the left.
- Continue driving straight for a few hundred yards. The parking garage will be on the
left.
From Richmond and Points East
- Take I-64 West. Charlottesville is about seventy miles from downtown Richmond.
- There are long series of Charlottesville exits. Take the exit for Route 250.
- Stay on 250 for a minute or so, and take the exit for 29 North (Business).
- Turn right at the base of the offramp. After a mile-and-a-half, the road will end in a Y
at the base of the UVa campus.
- Turn left and follow the road for about a half-mile. The parking garage will be on the
right.
From Lexington and Points West
- Take I-64 East. Charlottesville is about seventy miles from downtown Richmond.
- There are long series of Charlottesville exits. Take the exit for Route 250.
- Stay on 250 for a minute or so, and take the exit for 29 North (Business).
