Prototype Design

Our work in designing a tool for modelling temporal relations in humanities data began in the summer of 2001, with a storyboard prepared for critique at our Intel-sponsored seminar. Present at the seminar was designer Petra Michel, who -- as a student at CalArts -- had participated in a collaborative design exercise with the Temporal Modelling Project. She later joined our team to assist in building the visual vocabulary and interface for our PlaySpace tool. The iterative design process leading up to implementation of the PlaySpace is represented here.
