Retold by Edith Robarts. Illustrated in Colour. (London: Ward, Lock & Co, Limited, n.d.; New York: The Platt and Peck Co., n.d. [c. 1910] -- Butler & Tanner The Selwood Printing Works Frome and London) As you can tell from the spelling of "color," this edition originated in England, and its images of Tom, for example, derive from the essentially different iconographic patterns of the British re-presentation of Stowe's story. But this version was reprinted or re-issued at least once in the United States. The volume's ornate cover identifies it as part of a series called "STORIES FOR THE CHILDREN." The copy from which these images were scanned was given in 1911 to an American child identified on one of the back pages as "Lestie Irene Roach, Age 12."
