This cheaply printed edition of the novel is complete in one
volume, but it follows the page-numbering convention of the two-volume 1852 Jewett
edition: the numbers start over at 1 after Chapter XVIII. This suggests that
Caldwell may have first published this version in two volumes sometime between
1892 and 1900. Around the same date, Caldwell also published a copiously-illustrated children's version of the novel, the Young Folks' Uncle Tom's Cabin, adapted by Grace Duffie Boylan; you can see that in the UTC AS CHILDREN'S BOOK section of this archive. Uncle Tom's Cabin. By Harriet Beecher Stowe. (New York and Boston: H. M. Caldwell Co., n.d. [c1900]) |
